French say they need the biggest condoms
The French say they need the largest condoms in Europe while Greeks get by on smaller ones, according to a Europe-wide study by a German consultancy that provides advice on condoms. The snappily named Singen-based Institute of Condom Consultancy asked 10,500 men in 25 countries to measure their penis and enter the number into a database.
From these undoubtedly accurate and entirely true responses they found Frenchmen on average claim to need 15.48cm (6.09inch) long condoms, about 3 cm longer than Greeks, whose condom-size requirement was the most modest.
Jan Vinzenz Krause, the institute's director said the data was collected over a period of eight months.
The survey was aimed at educating youngsters about the importance of effective contraception.
The institute also offers online condom-size advice and hosts "Pimp Your Condom" - an annual fair organised in cooperation with the national Aids Trust - with the aim of educating teens about sexually transmitted diseases.
Krause was in the spotlight in the past when he produced a prototype of the "spray-on condom" - an aerosol can which contains latex that creates a perfectly fitting condom. But the idea was surprisingly not developed further.

Brew Crew to adapt new Italian style of soccer
Italian soccer strategy gets a racy lookROME (AP)—In the latest fashion statement out of Italy, soccer players are dropping their shorts to score goals.
Catania, a team in the country’s top division, unveiled the new look while taking a free kick. The players lined up in a wall and dropped their shorts in an effort to block the goalkeeper’s vision.
The Sicilian team carried out the maneuver to perfection Sunday. Three players dropped their shorts practically to their knees so Torino goalie Matteo Sereni couldn’t see the kick by Giuseppe Mascara, who scored during Catania’s 3-2 victory.
Catania is coached by Walter Zenga, a former goalkeper on Italy’s national team.
“This is a strategy that Zenga tries continually in training,” Pietro Lo Monaco, the club’s chief executive, told RAI state radio Monday.
Former referees coordinator Paolo Casarin called the move “unsportsmanlike and in bad taste.”
“It’s a trick that should not be tolerated anymore by the referees,” he said.
Lo Monaco replied: “A trick? I wouldn’t say so. It’s up to the referee to decide if it should be penalized, otherwise I don’t see where the problem is. … Good taste is relative.”

Epic booze session ends in nakedness and flooding
A woman has been charged over an epic drinking session where she apparently stole drinks, stripped naked, kicked and bit police and flooded her cell.
Lori Brutsche-Ely, was arrested on Halloween night after reports that she was stealing beer from customers in a nightclub.
She also exposed herself to a band playing at the venue, picked fights and refused to leave, claim police.
When police found her she was completely naked and was shouting at security guards outside the Mint nightclub, the US newspaper Idaho Mountain Express reported.

She allegedly kicked a security guard in the groin and later attacked a police officer.
One victim is reported as saying: "We were still trying to control the female when I felt pain in my left shoulder.
"I looked and observed the woman biting me."
When in jail police said she trashed a sprinkler, flooding the cell and attacked and bit a prison officer.
Sounds like one hell of a night. Fortunately the officer had a tetanus shot, and Brutsche-Ely had this wonderful picture taken. Smile!

Airline passenger restrained with duct tape
An airline crew used duct tape to keep a passenger in her seat because they say she became unruly, fighting flight attendants and grabbing other passengers, forcing the flight to land in North Carolina.Maria Esther Castillo of Oswego, N.Y., is due in court Thursday, charged with resisting arrest and interfering with the operations of a flight crew aboard United Airlines Flight 645, from Puerto Rico to Chicago.
Castillo, 45, struck a flight attendant on the buttocks with the back of her hand during Saturday's flight, FBI Special Agent Peter Carricato said in a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Charlotte. She also stood and fell onto the head of a blind passenger and later started pulling the person's hair, the complaint stated.
Ankle cuffs kept slipping off Castillo, so the flight crew and two passengers were forced to use duct tape to keep her in her seat, the complaint states.
She calmed as the pilot diverted the flight to Charlotte-Douglass International Airport, but became disruptive again when authorities boarded the plane to remove her, authorities said.
Carricato states that a passenger saw Castillo having drinks in an airport bar before boarding. She bought another drink on the plane. Flight attendants stopped serving her alcohol because of her behavior, the complaint states.
United spokesman Jeff Kovick said Wednesday that safety is the company's top priority and that it's cooperating with authorities.
FBI spokeswoman Amy Thoreson on Wednesday declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.
A message left seeking comment wasn't immediately returned by Castillo's attorney, Julia Mimms.
