Let us pay our respects to a true American

Penthouse Mag Founder Bob Guccione Dead At 79
On October 21, 2010 12:03 PMBob Guccione, the founder and publisher of Penthouse magazine, died Wednesday in Plano, Texas after a long battle with lung cancer.

Brooklyn-born Guccione began Penthouse while living in England in 1965. He brought the mag to America in 1969, and eventually grew it into a media empire. Penthouse magazine provided a raunchy alternative to Playboy, showing pubic hair at a time when doing so was considered obscene.

Guccione went on to launch other magazines, including Omni, Longevity, and Viva. Notably, it was at Viva that Anna Wintour had her first job as a fashion editor.

Guccione also had successful ventures in Hollywood. From AVN:

He produced or financed such classics as Caligula (1979), with Malcolm McDowell, Helen Mirren, John Gielgud and Peter O’Toole; Chinatown (1974), directed by Roman Polanski and starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway and John Huston; and The Longest Yard (1974), directed by Robert Aldrich and starring Burt Reynolds, Eddie Albert, Ed Lauter and Michael Conrad.

Guccione suffered from financial woes in the last decade. He lost much of his personal fortune in bad business investments. The proliferation of internet porn took a toll on the sales of porn magazines. In 2003, the publishing company for Penthouse declared bankruptcy and Guccione resigned as the CEO of Penthouse Inc.

Guccione is survived by his wife, April Dawn Warren Guccione, and his children Tonina, Nina, Tony, Nick, and Bob Jr. — the founder of Spin magazine.

Woman wore bra packed with sedatives to steal from men

Police have busted a robber who put her victims to sleep by using sedatives hidden in her bra.

Detectives say at least one man died at the hands of Veronica Palmez after she spiked his drink.
The 35-year-old woman from Madrid has denied ever having known the 59-year-old man who died and claims she simply wanted to put her victims to sleep in order to steal their wallets.
‘We believe she targeted married men who were then too embarrassed to report what happened,’ said a police spokesman.
'We believe there are many more cases of people who woke up with a sore head and relieved of their possessions who did not report it.
'And in one case we believe a 59-year-old man who was one of the victims did not wake up at all.'
Police said she had changed her appearance with various wigs for different victims and always had four of the bright blue liquid filled sachets at any one time in her bra.

Freak out: Jam Jar X-Ray v Tin Can Cat

Per Metro UK weird news: Jam Jar X-Ray's weird picture reign continues. The picture of a jam jar stuck up a man’s rear-end has been voted by you, the readers, as being considerably weirder than the Human Magnet Who wasn't Really A Magnet and the Gravy Wrestling northerners. The question is - can this jar ever be beaten?.

As regular readers will know, the chap who had the jam jar inserted up his derriere claimed that he had been suffering from constipation, and the jam jar had been placed in an attempt to remedy the situation.

Once again, in the interests of our users' well-being, we must point out that bum jars are not currently prescribed as a cure for constipation, nor are they likely to ever become one.
